One of the great things about our community is that people here genuinely care about each other.
Whether it’s with one of our pastors or a gifted and trained member with a heart for others, there are people here who would love to walk alongside you. The primary way we provide care is through our Care Team.
Care Team
Our Care Team is made up of compassionate women and men who have been equipped with the skills to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care.
Care Team members provide care through listening, encouraging, and praying. This can be for a few meetings, or in an ongoing capacity. They meet with one person at a time on a weekly basis. To be clear, our Care Team members are not counsellors or trained professionals.
Who should seek out the Care Team?
The Care Team is for anyone who needs a consistent, caring spiritual friendship. You can think of Care Team members as people dedicated to the charge of St. Paul in Galatians 6:2, “bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” In our context, these burdens could be:
- Persistent physical or mental illness
- Grieving the loss of dreams for family or a future that is perpetually unfulfilled
- Grieving the physical death of a loved one
- Financial strain
- Difficult work relationships or situations
- Difficult family relationships or situations
- Weighty life decisions (i.e. moving cities, career changes, having children)
- Addiction (substance abuse, technology, pornography)
- A difficult breakup (or divorce)
- Loneliness (i.e. being new to Vancouver; trouble making friends; new parents)
- Spiritual dryness and feelings of abandonment by God
- Other sinful habits that require consistent accountability
