The mantra of our culture is ‘Don’t waste your life.’ Time is short, so you must make the most of your life while you have it. The irony is that if we live this way, we will waste our lives. Although Jesus never said ‘Don’t waste your life,’ these words can be re-appropriated for his call to us: ‘Don’t waste your life. Don’t waste your life chasing after the wrong things, living only for yourself, as if eternity is not a reality. Don’t waste your life chasing wealth and luxury to the detriment of your soul. Don’t waste your life following anything or anyone other than me.’
