The season of Lent is a time of repentance, of aligning ourselves with God, of intentionally making room and space in our lives for deeper spiritual renewal. As our hearts and minds and souls are renewed by the gospel, we will start to be passionate about the things God is passionate about. In Jonah, we discover that God is passionate about cities. He is passionate about cities being renewed. As God brings about our own personal renewal, we discover it’s not just for our own sake. God renews us to send us out into the world. He calls us to ‘go’ even into our own city for it’s redemption also.
